Here is the original information about the event:

We are delighted to be holding a one-day SARG re-launch seminar. The planned theme of the day is lifespan development: from embryo to employee. Our keynote speaker will be Simon Baron-Cohen, director of the Autism Research Centre in Cambridge.  There will also be three further talks from leading researchers reporting on work spanning a range of life stages: Dr Beatriz Lopez, Dr Eva Loth, and Dr Mary Stewart. The event will also include short presentations from Scotland-based postgraduates and opportunities for all to participate in small discussion groups. We will finish with a plenary discussion led by Dr Jeremy Parr.  A programme including all titles and speaker abstracts for the event can be downloaded here: SARG_Relaunch_Programme_FinalVersion

Please take note of the following information if you are attending the event:

  • This is event is now fully subscribed with a long waiting list. If you can no longer attend or cannot attend the full day please contact sue.fletcher-watson@ed.ac.uk so that your place can be offered to one of the people on the waiting list.
  • Please note that registration is at 9.15 – 9.40am and latecomers will not be admitted without prior arrangement with the committee.
  • Please feel free to bring a cup of coffee with you to start the day – our first coffee break will be at 11am.  The event includes a buffet lunch at 12.50pm.
  • In order to minimise administrative burden for the committee, we ask that delegates bring their own name badge and print their own copy of the programme if needed.  We will provide stickers and pens if anyone doesn’t have a suitable name badge to bring.
  • After lunch all delegates will break into small groups for a discussion session about how to improve autism research in Scotland. When you arrive you will be given a chit with your group number, and the room in which your discussion takes place.  Members of the committee will be on hand to provide directions at the time and each group will have a facilitator.
  • We have endeavoured to ensure that the event will be accessible to autistic delegates. The venue has been checked for unpleasant sensory stimuli and there is a quiet room available if needed. If you wish to access the quiet room please approach one of the committee for directions, and indeed to discuss any other requirements. The committee will be identified by wearing Saltire pin badges.
  • As at previous SARG events, we may take some photographs to record the day.  If you do not wish your picture to be taken please inform the committee at registration.
  • The event ends at 4.30pm.  Anyone wishing to join the committee for drinks is welcome to come to the Canon’s Gait pub on the Royal Mile just outside the Moray House quad.
SARG is very grateful for financial support for this seminar from Scottish Autism, the Patrick Wild Centre, and our hosts, Moray House School of Education at the University of Edinburgh.
