This is a one-day academic seminar on the theme of autism and education. Speakers include: Catriona Stewart (Scottish Autism/Scottish Women’s Autism Network), Sue Fletcher-Watson (University of Edinburgh), and Alastair Clarkson (Scottish Autism). Talks cover a range of topics of relevance to education, including: peer mentoring, exclusion, social media, play, and metacognition. The day will conclude with a keynote lecture by Professor Francesca Happé.

Professor Happé is Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience at the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London. Her research focuses on social cognitive processes in autism. She is the author of the well-known book Autism: An Introduction to Psychological Theory. The second edition of this book, Autism: A New Introduction to Psychological Theory and Current Debate, co-authored with Dr Sue Fletcher-Watson, is out this month.
